3DF Zephyr Aerial is the complete solution for photographic surveying. Through a series of tools developed specifically for geomatics professionals, Zephyr allows you to automatically reconstruct point clouds and three-dimensional models starting from a series of photographs or videos.
Thanks to an immediate and powerful interface, it is possible to obtain results such as contour lines, sections, paths in vector format and georeferenced orthophotos. Zephyr is continuously improved thanks to continuously developing state-of-the-art technology and an internationally recognized scientific base.

Faster – both the SfM and MvS phases have been made much faster: the projective star compensation (bundle adjustment) has been optimized for very large datasets, and these improvements are particularly noticeable above 500 photos per project, while in the MvS depth map generation (once Zephyr’s bottleneck) has also been greatly improved.

Greater detail – our stereo multiview algorithm has been greatly improved and is now able to recover even more detail! Finally, photocoherence has also been significantly improved thanks to optimizations for the extraction of details on thread-like structures.

Clean cut tool – it is now possible to cut mesh triangles cleanly, with visually much more satisfying results.

Improved UI and bounding box – many tools have been reorganized to ensure an always clean and optimal interface – furthermore, the new bounding box and gizmo provide an increasingly pleasant user experience.

Self-hosted 3D model export – export in just a few clicks the HTML/JS files needed to share a 3D model directly on your website!

CUDA 10.0 – Zephyr has been updated to the latest NVIDIA CUDA toolkit, 10.0. This allows us to fully support the latest video cards released – this improvement forced us to remove support for older video cards (CUDA capabilities < 3.0). Make sure you download the latest drivers!

New orthophoto (Aerial only) – it is now possible to use tile generation also with selection via rubber band or in any other mode. Both the results and the workflow have been improved – the orthophoto is now integrated into the workspace, this means that each generated orthophoto will be saved directly into the zep file and can be viewed in the 3D viewport.

New planar surface drawing system (Aerial only) – it is now possible to insert not only polylines but also planar surfaces among the drawing elements.

New floor plan generation tool (Aerial only) – this new tool allows the automatic extraction of floor plans/rooms, in particular this function is optimized for architecture/building scenarios.

OSBG/Ive support (Aerial only) – LoD meshes can now be exported as OSGB/Ive.

With the new version of Zephyr it is possible to import a large amount of laser scanner data. The scans can be registered (joined together) and it is possible to carry out various post-processing operations (extraction of sections and contour lines, creation of orthophotos, etc…) and export everything to a CAD environment. You can also directly import the native RIEGL (.rdbx) and FARO (.fls,.fws) formats by installing the plugins from the following page:
